Thank you Judge Roach for the opportunity to serve my community.
I am a veteran of the United States Army and served honorably in Operation Desert Storm from 1990-1991. Upon my return to civilian life I encountered many situations which revealed shortcomings I needed to address in order to become a responsible member of society. I had many failures as a result of these shortcomings over the next 24 years and in 2015 with the sole desire to turn my life around, I became aware of an opportunity with the North Texas Veterans Court to mentor Veterans who were experiencing many of the issues I had. Having been sober for 9 months, I was reluctant to immerse myself in the legal system I had strove so vainly to avoid my entire adult life. However, at the suggestion of many of my military peers I volunteered for the court. Because of Men like Judge John R. Roach, I came to understand the value of humility, honor, truth and justice. I learned that it was never too late to do an about face in life and have become a new man. I have found that to live life well is the only way to experience a satisfied mind. Judge Roach has set the standard for this example in my community and I can honestly say I would support his bid to occupy any office in which he believed he could make a difference. Thank you Judge Roach for the opportunity to serve my community.
